Justin & the Pee Pee Dance!!!

Justin actually went potty (standing mind you) on the big toilet today...I can't believe it; he's only barely 2 years old. Let's hope #2 potty training goes easier and faster then Jordan did. For the last 4 days or so, Justin has been saying he needs to go potty so he goes into the bathroom, takes off his pants and diaper, and then just stands at the toilet doing everything else BUT go potty:-)...It's cute!!! Well today in daycare, he actually did the same thing but this time he went potty. His teacher said he was very surprised at what came out. It's totally just a copying thing now and not really going potty always in the toilet, but at least he's already starting to 'feel it out'!

18-month Check up

Justin had his 18-month check up on Friday...hard to believe!

He's 26.8 lbs (55th%) and 34 1/2" long (95th%). What's up with the long and skinny kids?:-) Both him and Jordan share the same kind of stats; tall kids on the slender side...wish I could say that:-)

Other then that he was all healthy! I totally forgot to get Jordan's stats while we were there, so I'll have to get them and come back to post them hopefully tomorrow for the compare.

AGAIN!!!

Justin got walking pneumonia while Grandma and Papa were visiting. The doc seems to think this is a 1-2 year thing and then it too shall pass...let's hope! He was significantly better today since he was on antibiotics for about 18 hours, but since I was supposed to go back to work today I ended up having to work from home since I couldn't take a sick kid to daycare. He's only on this antibiotic for 5 days and then we go in next Friday for the re-check and for his 18-month check up...hard to believe that it's here already!

Justin - 17 months old today!

It's hard to believe he's another month older already! Time is sure flying...he now stands up while he walks up and down the stairs, says a few more words (five, nite, bye, hi, mommy, daddy, Jordan, up, down, cup...), AND the big thing is that he now feeds himself with forks and spoons! This just happened over the course of the last week where he really feeds himself everything that is on his plate whilst barely spilling anything:-)

They grow up way too fast!!!

To the doctor AND the dentist!!!

I took Justin to the doctor again this morning for a re-check since he's been coughing for the last 2 weeks...I really thought that he would have pneumonia, BUT he doesn't:-) Actually, his ears, lungs, mouth, and throat all look great. His nose looks like hell and he's got a cough with mucus, but not in the lungs...it's considered bronchitis which he's basically had for 2-weeks; I'm not sure why we can't seem to get rid of it. It's viral, so like anything you just have to wait for it to run its course. There are no antibiotics for it, however, the doctor put him on amoxicillan because he had a small fever yesterday and Wednesday in case it's not something more that he's fighting. The doctor also says through the stethoscope that he actually heard a slight wheeze as well which I can't hear and haven't heard with the naked ear:-) He sure plays and STILL gets into everything like he's not sick. He's been eating like a friggen' cow (i.e., whole hot dogs, buns and all in one sitting), and still playing all the time. He napped at school yesterday from 12-4p and then came home and slept his entire normal bedtime routine!!! I think he's in a serious growth spurt with one of his bottom bicuspid tooth popping through. This might be what's causing the snotty, runny nose...Kids always have issues, but at least it's nothing super serious TODAY:-)

Jordan went to the dentist and had 3 fillings done today as well on his big teeth on the left side of his mouth, two on the bottom, and one on the top. Like I mentioned a couple of months ago, since these are his big teeth that he'll keep until he's like 12, we couldn't let them go knowing that they would fall out soon anyways. He was very nervous in the beginning, but he held my hand and got his teeth drilled and filled (and no he didn't need a needle with anesthesia)! It took me and the dentist & assistant more coaching to get Jordan READY for the fillings then it took to actually do them...we were in the office at 4:30 and out by 5p, with probably only 10 minutes of it spent actually filling the teeth. He goes to Willamette Dental which caters to kids; the dentist did great showing Jordan all of the instruments and letting him touch them. The only one that made him very nervous was the suction tool. I think it had too much of a suction that I think it scared him more then anything!

Justin's New Trick...

Justin went down the stairs all by himself beginning on Saturday. First he took a step or two down from the top of the stairs (standing on two feet mind you) and I about had a heart attack racing and tripping over my own two feet to get him before he fell; instead he sat on his butt and slid down a few steps and then must've made the realization that there has to be a faster way to get down the stairs so he turned over onto his belly and came racing down all of the stairs. After that, it was over, all he wanted to do was hang around on the steps going up and down...he was driving me nuts:-) After I finally told him to make up his mind about up or down, he came down; I put the gate up and he had a HUGE fit! Like a total meltdown because he now wanted to go back up the stairs. I got him sidetracked soon enough and he was able to move onto something else pretty quickly:-)

Justin is 16 months old today!!!

Look at ALL my teeth...it's not hard to make me smile:-) I love to put on my funny face & make mommy and daddy laugh, BUT....

News & Tidbits...

Grandma & Papa are coming out in September for a visit. They are arriving on 9/15 and leaving like 10 days later! Philip & I will be working some of that time since of those 10 days, there is only one weekend involved...it was cheaper to fly out on a Tuesday and go back the following Thursday. They are looking very forward to the visit since it will have been one year exactly since they last saw the kids. We were back in MI last year September (I think it would be that exact week if I were to check the calendar); it's hard to believe a year has already come and gone! Another reason they are coming this specific time is that my dad wants to go to the Puyallup Fair. For those of you that know him, this is definitely his cup of tea:-) We don't have any further plans then that, but I am contemplating going up to the Woodland Zoo in Seattle since we've not been there either. We always go to NW Trek every year (potentially this Saturday) and then to the zoo in Tacoma usually at least once a year as well.

Justin's newest word is 'outside'! Yeah, I wrote that right...I about pooped my pants on Sunday; he went over to the back patio door slider, put his face and hands on the window, and clear as day said 'outside'. He's such a little sponge and absorbs SO much now! In fact, he said it again today while he was in his high chair eating dinner; only this time he pointed to the back patio door and said it. I swear, soon enough he'll be asking to bum the keys to the car:-) He's doing great and is always smiling to see me when I pick them up from daycare everyday!

Jordan is having the most difficult time going to sleep at night...I'm not sure if it's because it's daylight out, if he gets extra sleep during nap time at school (yes, he still has nap time!), or if he plan just thinks he's going to miss out on something, but it about drives me bonkers when I end up going to bed (sleep) before he does. Don't get me wrong, he gets into bed, but he talks to himself, needs water, needs to go potty....everything else but go to sleep! When do they ever just go to sleep when they are supposed to:-) He can write all of his letters now on his doodle by copying them; I guess he's prepping himself for Kindergarten next year!

Philip is traveling again the week of 8/3 to Hopkinsville, KY and Chicago. It's me, the boys, AND Mary Kay!!! The boys just love her and we do too!!!

Home with a sick kid again today!!!

Justin ran a 101.5 temp yesterday at school and of course I was called at 4:40p when the day was technically over and I picked him up 30 minutes later...he couldn't return to school today, so I had to work from home. I ran him to the doctor anyways since he's been symptomatic for getting pneumonia but his lungs and ears were both clear:-) Thank goodness for that...his pediatrician figures the spike in the fever out of the blue was due to his measles vaccination he got 10 days ago, in fact, I specifically remember the doctor saying that but for some reason I was thinking 4 days and not 10 days. 4 days is for the chickenpox vaccine. I'm just glad he's SEEMS to be doing OK, with seems being the key word!!

You would've thought that a full-term baby wouldn't be as sick as a preemie one, but I'm learning that that isn't necessarily the case...Justin seems to be one sick kid as compared to his older brother!

15-month Check Up

Justin had his 15-month check up this afternoon...he is doing great and the pneumonia that he had on Monday (yes, for the second time if you are asking yourself) was all cleared up today after the 5 days of antibiotics. Not sure why he seems to be susceptible to pneumonia, but I guess once you get it, it is easier to get....:-(

Anyways his stats are:
Head: 48cm (75th%)
Wt: 25 lbs. (50th%)
Ht: 33" (90th%)

Obviously Justin is one tall, skinny kid!!!!

Jordan's comparison stats for 15-months are:
Head: 47cm
Wt: 22.5 lbs.
Ht: 31 1/2"

I think Justin is turning into my little Bruiser!

15-months old already!

How time flies...Justin is 15-months old today! He's getting so big. He moved up into the sophomore room at daycare on 6/1 and has started to say a handful of words now; his vocabulary consists of: Mommy, Daddy, mine, night, no, bye, and then pretty much just tries to mimic everything else you say to him like bottle. He's got his 15-month check up at the pediatrician a week from today. It really seems to me that he is getting bigger faster then Jordan is/was. One day soon I'll be able to see if my prediction comes true in the Justin will be bigger then Jordan.

'Lil' Larry?

Here are a few photos of Justin's haircut after it was all finished. There is some talk amongst myself and Philip that he looks like a mini Larry (Papa in MI)...you guys will have to be the judge if you know him and let us know if that is in fact the case.

Justin's 1st Haircut

Justin got his 1st haircut yesterday. He did excellent in the chair even while clippers were being applied to his little 'nugget'! The lady thought he was 18 months old because he was so big. I said 'no, he's only 14 months old'...Hard to believe Jordan was close to 2 years old before he got his 1st haircut, in fact, he was actually 21 months old. He kept a cue ball dome for the longest time...his little cousin Cameron was born with more hair the Jordan at the time when Jordan was 18 months old!

Random Tidbits...

Justin got a clean bill of health this morning at the doctor...Yeah!

Grandma & Papa from MI will be out to visit in Sep. They are really coming so papa can see the Puyallup Fair. Grandma has been to it once before, but it last for like 3 weeks every September.

It looks like we are going out to Vegas in Oct. as Philip has to go there for a week for some sort of packaging convention (never knew such a thing existed:-)) so me and the boys will probably tag along at the beginning of the trip or at the end of the trip covering over the weekend before the convention or the weekend after the convention. Haven't yet finalized these plans yet as we are still only in June...

We are planning on getting Justin's first haircut this weekend...will definitely post pictures if we do!

Updates...weekend!

Well, the yard sale went great this weekend...I was out there on Friday & Saturday whilst watching Justin, who of course was sick over the weekend (actually since this past Wednesday). Today was the first day he didn't have a fever, so he's going back to daycare tomorrow...he has gotten 4 out of the 5 doses of the antibiotics & his pediatrician said by Monday that he would no longer be contagious, whether it was bacterial or viral pneumonia. I just hope that daycare isn't walking around with a thermometer all day checking his temperature and then calls me that he's got one...

We made $265 for the two days...I got rid of all of the baby gear I had with the exception of about 15 or so little outfits (I was getting rid of NB through 12 months). Needless to say, we are very happy; especially Philip since he gets to have his garage back! With some of the $, I bought Jordan a new pair of sneakers since the ones he was wearing were all trashed...this is the first time I've had to buy the same size for sneakers. He's still wearing size 11 and Justin is wearing size 6. Normally Jordan's feet grow faster then he trashes the shoes...I see this can get very expensive:-) With another one following suit!

Jordan got his very big boy haircut today! His hair was getting pretty long and ragged. The clippers were used all of the way up to leaving a little bit on the top. I'll have to post a picture tomorrow...Justin is getting his cut next weekend since we didn't have the camera with us, but more so he is just getting over being real sick. Not sure how we'll cut his hair since it's completely straight like mine; possibly a bowl cut, but not for sure.

We bbq'd steaks last night w/Mary Kay and family, and the Jordan & Philip went over to the neighbors across the street for a quick chat at a party where Jordan got to jump on a trampoline! Instantaneously, he thinks he's getting one for Christmas now:-) It was a long weekend since I had a vacation day Friday that turned out to be a sick day with Justin anyways! He is definitely doing better now...we go in Thursday morning for a 7-day check up.

Poor little guy...:-(

Justin has pneumonia so we won't be going on our camping trip to Leavenworth, WA tomorrow! He got a fever yesterday at daycare of 101.5 and then has just been sick ever since; I took him to his pediatrician this morning and he diagnosed it! He's on antibiotics; I'm hoping it's just bacterial and not viral since bacterial gets cleared up with antibiotics...viral could mean a hospital stay:-( We go back in 7 days for a re-check where hopefully things have cleared up...keep your fingers crossed! I feel bad for him since he is so sick! I kind of remember, but I think Jordan had pneumonia as well once when he was Justin's age or younger...I'm sorry, but raising kids would be so much easier if we were all in our own little germ free bubbles!!!

Philip rescheduled the camping trip to the weekend of July 31st instead. This way he doesn't lose his deposit; I think it was a good thing all around because Philip just came back late last night from an overnight trip to KY and came home this evening with a migraine and went straight to bed at 7p. I guess it's someones way of telling us to stay our butts at home;-)

Surgery went great!

Justin's ear tube surgery went excellent today! We had to check-in by 0700 and we left the hospital by 0930; I actually think it was closer to 0915. Since I had already been through the process once (well twice if you include a replacement) with Jordan, there was nothing that was concerning this time around and it was no big deal. One mom actually was crying when she came out....eesh, I guess some just handle it differently. That's it; I just wanted to let everyone know that all went well and Mr. Justin was back up to his 'tricks' in no time.
